Roscell Stern Obituary

Roscell J. Stern was born in San Francisco on September 7, 1948, to the late Pinkey J.Stearne and Hazel M. Wallace and was raised under the love of his parents Hazel and Freddie Wilson.

Roscell attended Sunday school and Sunday morning services at First AME Zion church under the Pastoral of Rev. Bennett.  He was baptized at an early age. He received his education in the SF USD, beginning at Anza elementary, Roosevelt middle school and graduated from George Washington High School in 1967.

Roscell worked at the US Post office for many years. He then started working in the family business, Wilson & Son Hauling. Roscell wore many hats in the work industry: he took great pride in his work as a professional Carpet installer, painter and gardener. Roscell had an affectionate personality where people would gravitate to him. He was friendly, and kindhearted with everyone. Although he was kindhearted, you knew he wasn't a person to reckon with. In other words, don't take his kindness for weakness.

Roscell enjoyed gatherings with Family and friends, especially during the Holidays. His favorite songs during the Christmas holiday were "Christmas comes but once a year" and "Merry Christmas baby", which he would play over and over and dared for anyone to change the record. He also enjoyed shooting pool, fishing and dancing; his best dance steps were the "The funkie chicken, Four Corners and the Calypso. Roscell enjoyed watching old flicks on TV such as Sanford & Son, Gunsmoke and Planet of the Apes. He also loved the Discovery Channel. He had a genuine passion for WWF wrestling and was a number one fan.

Roscell departed this life on December 2, 2022, and was preceded in death by his parents; Freddie and Hazel Wilson, Siblings: Jackie, Rita and Brenda Wilson, and Curtis Stearne. He leaves to cherish his memory: Freddie Wilson Jr., (Eliakim); Michelle Wilson; Rodney Stearne (Valerie), Dwight Sterne (Rose), Stephen Stearne (Susan), Reginald Stearne (Angela), Stanton Stearne, David Stearne, and Pam Stearne, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
